Karen Arnold-Burger is a judge of the Kansas Court of Appeals. She assumed office on March 4, 2011. Her current term ends on January 15, 2029.

Arnold-Burger ran for re-election for judge of the Kansas Court of Appeals. She won in the retention election on November 5, 2024.

Arnold-Burger was appointed to the court by former Democratic Governor Mark Parkinson on January 6, 2011, and was sworn in on March 4, 2011.[1][2] Arnold-Burger was retained on November 6, 2012, and again on November 8, 2016.[3]

Arnold-Burger is the chief judge on the Kansas Court of Appeals. She was selected by the Kansas Supreme Court for a four-year term beginning in January 2017.[4]

Education

Arnold-Burger received her bachelor's degrees from the University of Kansas in 1978 and her J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1981.[1]

Career

Arnold-Burger began her legal career as a labor relations attorney for an energy company. She next went into public service, as a first assistant city attorney for the City of Overland Park and later as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Kansas. She was appointed to the Overland Park Municipal Court bench in 1991. She served as a municipal court judge until her appointment to the Kansas Court of Appeals in 2011.[1]
