John Moorlach
John M. W. Moorlach (Republican Party) was a member of the California State Senate, representing District 37. He assumed office on March 22, 2015. He left office on December 7, 2020.
Moorlach ran in a special election to the Orange County Board of Supervisors to represent District 2 in California. He lost in the special general election on March 9, 2021.
Moorlach was a 2014 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 45th Congressional District of California. Moorlach dropped out of the race shortly after the filing deadline, citing fundraising issues.[1][2]
Moorlach served as the Second District supervisor on the Orange County Board of Supervisors from 2006 to 2015. He was termed-out.[3][4] He also previously served 12 years as the Treasurer-Tax Collector for Orange County.[3]
Biography
Moorlach graduated from California State University in 1978 and became a certified public accountant in 1978. He worked for Balser, Horowitz, Frank & Wakeling for over 10 years, eventually becoming vice president. Moorlach then served 12 years as the Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector and went on to serve on the Orange County Board of Supervisors.[3]

John Moorlach (R) defeated Donald P. Wagner (R) and Naz Namazi (R) in the primary election on March 17.[10][11][12]
The seat was vacant following Mimi Walters' (R) election to Congress.[13]
A special election for the position of California State Senate District 37 was called for May 19. A primary election took place on March 17, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 23, 2015.[14]
2014
Moorlach ran in the 2014 election for the U.S. House to represent California's 45th District. Moorlach dropped out of the race shortly after the filing deadline.[2]
