Tara Lujan
Tara Lujan (Democratic Party) is a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, representing District 48. She assumed office on July 30, 2020. Her current term ends on December 31, 2026.
Lujan (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the New Mexico House of Representatives to represent District 48. She won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Lujan was appointed to the state legislature by the Santa Fe County Commission on July 23, 2020, to replace Linda Trujillo. She served the remainder of Trujillo's unexpired term.[1] In a vote on August 15, 2020, the Santa Fe County Democratic Party's Central Committee chose Lujan to replace Trujillo on the 2020 general election ballot.[2]
Biography
Prior to her appointment to the state legislature, Lujan worked as the human resources director for the office of the New Mexico Treasurer. She had to resign from her position in the treasurer's office to assume office in the state legislature. Lujan's professional experience also includes working as a campaign manager for U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján (D).[3]
