After a somewhat difficult start, I also started to like Game of Thrones. Season 4 was the first season for me that I really liked. Season 5 was also well liked, but owes a lot to the fact that this is (partly) the direct aftermath of the strong previous season. This made it a bit easier for me to keep interesting. If you look at the season itself in retrospect, I don't get the impression that a lot has happened. The highlight for me was episode 8. The sudden attack of the wights looks impressive and also knows how to enter. After all, the end of that episode doesn't look too bright Too bad that the series makes me look at the death of Shireen Baratheon an episode later. Of course, this emphasizes that no one's life is safe in this harsh world, but I also thought it was rather unnecessary. The sudden death of certain prominent characters is something I am not always happy about. Sometimes it works and impresses, but at least as often it seems rather forced to me. I'm curious how it will continue, especially after that cliffhanger with Jon Snow.

Just watched Season 5 for the second time and I stand by my opinion: This is the worst season of the series. The main reason is the excess of annoying characters: Pretty much everyone in Dorne, The Waif, Olyvar, Olly, The High Sparrow and Lancel Lannister. Each and every one of the characters I've been annoyed by. In addition, certain scenes, as mentioned above, are simply not well put together. The deaths of a number of characters have also had less of an impact than it should have (Jon, Myrcella and especially Stannis).
In addition, there are also storylines and characters that really captivated me: Jorah has his best season, Tyrion has again the best dialogues, Jon and Tormund have a very exciting storyline, Bronn once again provides the comic relief and Cercei finally shows a see the other side of herself. Episodes 8 and 9 in particular are very exciting and it is also good to see that the quality of the special effects has increased considerably compared to the previous seasons.
On to season 6. That is in my memory one of the best seasons.
