Jaime will of course not die before he - in addition to Kingslayer - also has Queen and Kinslayer as his nickname. Indeed, since his youthful knighthood alongside Sers Barristan, Hightower, Dayne etc., he has been looking for honor (recovery), reputation and a place (legacy) among the greatest knights in the great Kingsguard book. Basically, he's still that young chivalrous lad (and arguably the greatest talent Westeros has ever seen) who for the good of the empire (and his soul, ironically) did the unforgivable - betray his king - and who will eventually are forced to repeat this action to his sister. The honour, reputation, but especially legend associated with names like Selmy and Dayne is what he deserves most, but he will never receive. He will be associated only with betrayal, with incest and bile. An ogre story for naughty boys. No, his story is one for beautiful symbolism, and especially tragedy. So his story is not over at this point. What I'm most curious about is whether anyone - besides Brienne - will ever discover or understand his internal motivations and nature of his character. Probably not.

Spectacular but rather rushed season. Makes sense since there are only seven episodes. It's a mystery why they didn't just make ten. That would have benefited the plot lines and the characters. By emphasizing spectacle this time, subtle details and beautiful dialogues are put on the back burner, resulting in the least season to date. Hopefully things will be straightened out in the final series next year.

Starting this season, the show's intelligence drops and becomes predictable. The charm of the previous seasons slowly disappears and gives way to a block-bustier-like plot. All prominent characters have plot armor, which lowers the tension a bit. Few plot twists we're used to from GoT and even fewer episodes than before. Yes, you can tell from this season that D&D were a bit done with it.
That doesn't mean there aren't any highlights this season. Certainly the first 3 episodes are still of a high level. The highlight is episode 3 'The Spoils of War'. The episodes after that are also strong, but episode 6 'Beyond The Wall' was very disappointing. There was so much more to be gained from that and really should have been the highlight of the season. Unfortunately, he was very disappointing.
The season still ends on a strong note, which gives the impression that you can expect quite a lot from the upcoming season. Unfortunately, we all know how that went.
