Four Million People Access Sample Ballot via Ballotpedia

Forty percent of voters choose Ballotpedia in 2018

Middleton, Wis. - November 7, 2018: More than 4 million people accessed their list of candidates and ballot measures using Ballotpedia’s sample ballot lookup tool in 2018, a significant increase from the 2016 presidential election. More than three times the number of people who used Ballotpedia to access their sample ballots during early voting in 2016 did so this year.

Ballotpedia readership this year surged past its 2016 record, exceeding reader totals by 20 percent leading up to Election Day and by 9 percent for all of 2016.

Editor in Chief Geoff Pallay attributes this success to Ballotpedia’s readers and their continued determination to seek out and share neutral, nonpartisan information about politics. “We’re incredibly proud to see this level of growth in a year without a presidential election, and we’re excited to be able to reach such a significant portion of the electorate with our content,” Pallay said. “Above all, we’re honored that so many voters have chosen Ballotpedia as their source of election information this year, and we’re so grateful to our readers for their continued support of our mission.”

Ballotpedia’s articles have been viewed by 46 million readers in 2018, a figure which represents about 40 percent of the 114 million people who cast votes in this year’s general election. More than 23 million readers have visited Ballotpedia since the start of early voting on September 21. Those figures were 42.2 million total readers and 38.3 million readers during early voting in 2016.
