DeCosta Hastings (Nonpartisan) is a former District 2 member of the Nashville Metro Council District 2 in Tennessee. He served on the council from 2015 to 2019. Hastings ran in the general runoff election for Nashville Metro Council District 2 on September 12, 2019, and was defeated.

Biography

A Nashville native, Hastings earned a B.S. in business marketing and a Th.b. in Theology from American Baptist College. He has experience as the regional vice president of Primerica and as an executive committeeman for the Davidson County Democratic Party.[1][2]

The city of Nashville, Tennessee, held nonpartisan elections for mayor and metro council on August 6, 2015. A runoff election took place on September 10, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was May 21, 2015. All 41 metro council seats—including the office of vice mayor—were up for election. In District 2, candidates included Laura Fortier, DeCosta Hastings, Danavan Hylton, Carrie Searcy and Robert "Bobby" Stockard. Hastings and Stockard advanced to the runoff election.[3] Hastings defeated Stockard in the runoff election.[4] Incumbent Frank Harrison was term-limited. He ran for election to an at-large seat.[5]
