Heath issued the following statement regarding his bid for office:
“ | I run because Hoosiers need a better deal than the one they're receiving.
Hoosier children are stuck in a broken educational system (and are being held hostage by faceless politicians)... Skilled Hoosier workers can barely make ends meet to provide for their families and they serve in an environment that is hostile to workers rights... Hoosier Veterans are not being cared for and a number of them are homeless... Everyone wants to argue, and play the blame game, but when it comes time to ACT, they turn their attention to matters of little importance. President Theodore Roosevelt once said: ""The first requisite of a good citizen in this Republic of ours is that he shall be able and willing to pull his weight."" Many of our so-called Legislators certainly have not been pulling *their* weight by doing their jobs, and it is time for Hoosier citizens to fix what our 'leaders' won't. [4] |

Heath's website emphasized the following campaign themes:[5]
Job Creation
- Excerpt: "If elected, instead of fighting legislation that allows all who want jobs to get them, I will pursue businesses and corporations and every available avenue in the attempt to bring them to our district. Only relentless persistence will help put a better pay check into Hoosier working family’s homes."
Energy and Transportation
- Excerpt: "By investing in high speed passenger rail, Indiana could see the creation of nearly 5,000 new jobs for Hoosiers, and nearly $86 million in extra household income. There is a user benefits of such an investment runs into the billions...By investing in high speed rail, Hoosiers will be investing in more jobs, a revived economy, better transportation, and energy independence."
Education
- Excerpt: "The education of our children should not be held hostage by political agendas, nor should Hoosiers be held to the same mediocre standards accepted by other states. Now is the time to develop a plan that will not only improve our educational system here in Indiana, but to shine as an example for our nation."
Affordable Healthcare
- Excerpt: "It is necessary for Indiana to not only nullify Obamacare, but to replace it with a plan that will be beneficial to ALL who need it, regardless of income. I will work across party lines to find an affordable and feasible way to create such a plan."
