Alcohol Sales Measures, Quinlan & Wolfe City (November 2009)

Two ballot measures concerning Alcohol Sales Measures in Quinlan & Wolfe City was on the November 3 ballot in Hunt County. Both cities saw two propositions each.

The first issue on the ballot dealt with if voters wanted to approve the sale of alcohol in places other than licensed places, such as clubs and restaurants. These places included convenience stores and grocery stores.

Proposition 1 for Quinlan was defeated

  • Yes: 74 (37.95%)
  • No: 121 (62.05%) Defeatedd

Proposition 1 for Wolfe City was defeated

  • Yes: 107 (48.86%)
  • No: 112 (51.14%) Defeatedd

The second issue allowed citizens to purchase alcoholic beverages at licensed establishments without having to become a member of that private club. Meaning anyone of legal age would be able to buy alcohol from these locations without first needing to go through a membership process with the establishment.

Proposition 2 for Quinlan was defeated

  • Yes: 95 (48.22%)
  • No: 102 (51.78%)Defeatedd

Proposition 2 for Wolfe City was defeated

  • Yes: 105 (47.73%)
  • No: 115 (52.27%)Defeatedd

People in the city of Greenville faced similar measures on their ballot last November and they were approved.[1]
