Gail Bates
Gail Bates (Republican Party) was a member of the Maryland State Senate, representing District 9. Bates assumed office on January 14, 2015. Bates left office on January 9, 2019.
Bates (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Maryland State Senate to represent District 9. Bates lost in the general election on November 6, 2018.
Bates served in the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 9A from her appointment to the chamber on February 4, 2002, to January 14, 2015.
Biography
When she served in the state Senate, Bates' professional experience included working as a certified public accountant, as chief of staff for Delegate Donald E. Murphy - District 12A, and as assistant to the Howard County executive.

Ryan Frederic defeated Daniel Medinger in the Democratic primary, while Gail Bates was unopposed in the Republican primary. Bates defeated Frederic in the general election.[1][2][3]

When she served in the state Senate, Bates was a member of the Howard County Republican Women, Howard County Farm Bureau, Christian Jail Ministry, Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, Howard County Republican Club, Maryland Federation of Republican Women, National Conference of State Legislatures, and the Therapeutic Horsemanship Association. She also belonged to the Maryland Veterans Caucus, Maryland Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus, Women Legislators of Maryland, and Golf Advisory Committee of Howard County.[6]
