Darwin's Nightmare plot
A few decades ago, the Nile perch was released as a scientific experiment in Lake Victoria in the heart of Africa. This predatory fish proved to be such a powerful survivor that in no time at all, almost all other extant fish species in the giant lake became extinct. The sober recording images of the fishing town of Mwanza in Tanzania show a degrading situation. While hundreds of tons of Nile perch fillets are flown daily by cargo planes to Europe and Japan, the starving locals have to cook a scant meal from the fish waste. Meanwhile, loads of weaponry are flown into the continent on the outward journey; the bloody African wars turn out to be a lucrative business for many.
