Documentary about Robert Downey Sr., an independent filmmaker who rose to fame as a counter-culture icon of the 1960s and 1970s. The father of actor Robert Downey Jr. died in July 2021 at the age of 85 from complications of Parkinson's. Shot over the course of three years, this film serves as a portrait of the life, career and final days of the filmmaker, whose rebellious spirit fueled decades of counter-culture films.

A deeply personal document about the relationship between a father and a son who have earned their spurs in the film world in their own way. Downey Sr. is the anchor and from the start it is clear that the film, which started in 2019, will at least include the death of Robert Downey Sr. will contain, The son tries to elicit interesting statements from his father, but often encounters cryptic or evasive answers that are so typical of Sr. that he could laugh about it. Featuring footage from Downey Sr.'s early work, supplemented by interviews with the cast members involved, it also explores the influence father has had on his son, as well as how that influence spills over into Robert Downey Jr.'s relationship. and his children.
