The Simpsons plot
The Simpsons are an average American family. Yes Nice. I never watched much The Simpsons, the occasional single episode, but even that didn't happen often. Attempted to watch the series from the beginning and then followed this season, but then quickly dropped out in the second season. Probably not rude enough, I was so captivated by South Park at the time and too much interest in other (film) projects. I really liked the Simpsons movie.
But now my girlfriend, who actually hates animation, suggested we start on The Simpsons, so I couldn't pass up the chance to give this series a second chance. Now I don't watch South Park either, because when they started parodying movies somewhere around the 13th season, the fun quickly wore off. And I've probably matured a bit too, because I see a lot more now in this season. It's not very crude, sometimes politically incorrect, but a little less "in your face" and I can appreciate that subtlety. And what also helps is that the Simpson family seems to be made up of real people. Marge in particular is a wonderful person. Maggie reminds me again of my youngest niece. Furthermore, the level is fairly constant. No big outliers, but no deep dips either. 3*.

An occasional bad episode or even season but overall a very consistent funny series. Always good to kill time with.
