Great classic!

100% The Muscles from Brussels!

Great fight scenes and well shot.

Also a reasonable story, although it strongly reminded of Rocky.

You do not have to expect acting performances from JCVD, that is known and can therefore not disappoint.

Compared to now there are only a few who were really good at this 30 years ago, but in my opinion you should not make a comparison. Time was totally different, simpler and slower.

What you can expect from JCVD is a lot of muscle and a lot of action. His martial arts in particular are always great and obviously very believable!

Kickboxer is really enjoying his skills.

Mylee... goooood fuck!

Retarded dialogues and acting zero point zero, but together with Bloodsport and Death Warrant it remains a better Van Damme film, partly thanks to the well-imaged fight and training scenes. He knows something about it. Kickboxer borrows a lot from Karate Kid. I like Mister Miyagi better than Master Xian. The final with Tong Po is a valued highlight.

JCVD is not the best actor, but in some films he is not so bad. After his first major role in Bloodsport, he is once again staged as a brawler with the necessary muscles. 'Performed' because you certainly can't call it acting. In the later films he manages to feel more at home in the film world.

In Kickboxer, Van Damme resembles Ken from Barbie with his side stripe and lightly tanned skin, but on steroids. The story is a wooden version of Karate Kid. Those who love the genre will enjoy this one. But it's not really good. The necessary fights and clichés, that's all.
