This manga has absolutely NO right in being as enjoyable as it is due to all of the “nots” that the manga executes in the whole isekai trope, but it somehow works through the juxtaposition of the main character and his gruesome world.

Rule number one of a good isekai: have good world-building and make it interesting; well, this manga does the exact opposite of that due to how many cliches it falls victim to — racism, poor power scaling, and “totally unpredictable evil organizations.”

“Ok fine, what about rule number 2?”

Rule number two of a good isekai: introduce a main character and make said ... mc go through progressive developments and explore his backstory. You caught me. This also doesn’t do anything like that — in fact, in to chapters, there was not one backstory on the main character, but it honestly wasn’t a bother to the story.

“Now truly, how could this be a good isekai if it doesn’t even follow two of the most basic rules of an isekai?”

Well.. Though the manga doesn’t employ the most standard and traditional means of creating an investing and interesting world and characters, the manga is instead pure, unfiltered fun through the characters and their chemistry.

There are your typical and usual cliches in the character archetypes, but the main character’s whimsical attitude about the twisted world around him, just makes this manga so interesting. As for the side characters, they become quite essential and important to the story, as they share most of the screen time in the later chapters; the side characters have been more developed and introduced than the main character, but that is fine, since the mc was already “fun.”

Obviously, this isn’t the most intricate and well-built isekai in the world, and it follows the basic plot developments of a fantasy isekai, however, this makes it all the more enjoyable, since there isn’t much intricacy to remember to fully understand the characters and the world, creating a “too enjoyable for your own good experience. “

What I like about this manga is the art style is larger and a bit more pleasant to look at than some other isekai manga. The character design is alright, but they did do a very good job with the MC.

However, I think the strongest part of this isekai are the characters. I find the MC and supporting cast to be enjoyable. I can understand their motives and personalities well. This is also true to some of the "bad guys" that exist in the story. The world building as a result is also alright because through characters we meet, the world builds up more ... and more. While the story doesn't seem to focus on world building, this story flows like a normal adventure with the MC heading out to accomplish their goals. When it comes to the characters (besides the very minor ones) there are understandable motives and as a result I became more interested in them and in the world.

Yet, the part of this Isekai that is lacking for me at least, is how the introduction for this isekai was presented. In a way it is good because I got the general idea of what seemed to happen to him and it sent us straight into the world. The issue is the way it was done, which as a result I think the introduction should have spent more time on explaining how this whole ISEKAI thing happened. The MC I felt adjusted very quickly to this new world and the only solid explanation seems to be that this was a game he played so it felt familiar. Compared to some/most isekai that are considered "trash" tier, this intro was alright, but I am someone who wants to see more interaction between the Original World vs. the New World.

AS A RESULT, the MC doesn't actually feel relatable in a sense that he is a person who just got transported to a new world. Even if he was not originally from earth, the MC just feels like a abnormal character who is still a native to that world. It feels like this is a Isekai which did not need to be an Isekai.

So I thought to rank this a 6, but then I remembered that the MC is a SKELETON KNIGHT! Not only that, he has a kind personality like a sweet bear. I love skeletons and I love nice bro dudes...so I give this a 7!

When I started reading, I was interested because the work seemed to be a lot like an Overlord but with the protagonist with another class in an RPG, but that's not quite it. The story starts well and with a good presentation of characters, the protagonist is captivating and cool, I think it fit very well for a beginning of a story, but soon after that some of the reasons for me to give up following this work begin to appear. About the designs, I have nothing to complain about, I think they are all very well done and different, the visual was never a ... problem for me, what really bothers me is that this work seemed like it was going to break away from the standard of Isekai where the protagonist is a jerk and has that love drama with the damsel, that's not quite what I saw over time, I noticed that the work was moving very much towards this more generic side and even though I believed that it would change in the future, it simply reached a point where I realized that it would not change at all and I abandoned the work. Another problem that bothered me a lot was the absurd amount of texts that didn't add anything. I'll take Hunter x Hunter and Jujutsu Kaisen as examples. They are works that have a lot of text but always have some context or addition to the work, whether in terms of skill or lore, which doesn't happen in Gaikotsu. The texts seem to be endless and don't add anything to the story (at least that's what it seemed to me).

In general, I'm keeping a 6 because despite the negative things, I can see that there are some good and different points, but unfortunately they aren't well used, taking the story down a path that's too generic. I don't think it's worth reading this work. It would be better to wait for the anime to be released because it has less endless texts.

Quando comecei a ler, me interessei pois a obra parecia muito ser um Overlord só que com o protagonista com outra classe em um RPG só que não é bem isso. A Historia começa bem e com uma boa apresentação de personagens, o protagonista é cativante e maneiro, acho que combinou muito bem para um começo de historia porem logo após isso começa a aparecer alguns dos motivos para eu desistir de acompanhar essa obra. Sobre os designes não tenho do que reclamar, acho todos muito bem feitos e diferentes, o visual nunca foi um problema pra mim, o que me incomoda mesmo é que essa obra parecia muito que ia sair do padrão dos Isekai onde o protagonista é apelão e tem aquele drama amoroso com a donzela, não foi bem isso que vi com o tempo, notei que a obra estava caminhando muito para esse lado mais genérico e mesmo acreditando que fosse mudar futuramente simplesmente chegou em um ponto que notei que não mudaria de jeito nenhum e abandonei a obra. Outro problema que me incomodou bastante foi a quantidade absurda de textos pra não adicionar nada, pego como exemplo Hunter x Hunter e Jujutsu Kaisen, são obras que possuem muito texto mas sempre tem um contexto ou uma adição para obra, seja em habilidade ou em lore, coisa que não ocorre em Gaikotsu, os textos parecem não ter fim e não acrescentam em nada na historia (ao menos foi o que pareceu pra mim).

Em geral mantenho uma nota 6 pois apesar das coisas negativas consigo ver que tem alguns pontos bons e diferentes mas infelizmente não são bem aproveitados levando a historia pra um caminho genérico demais, não acho que valha a pena ler essa obra, seria preferível esperar lançar o anime pois nele tem menos textos infinitos.
