Yu☆Gi☆Oh! Go Rush!!

After inheriting the company from their parents, siblings Yuuhi and Yuamu Oudou have started to work at Ultraterrestrial Trouble Solutions, an organization that hunts aliens. Although they have never encountered aliens before, Yuuhi is desperate to meet one as he believes that an alien has stolen his important item called the "Earthdamar."

One day, while searching for extraterrestrial creatures, Yuuhi and Yuamu find a strange spot in the forest where many trees have fallen, forming a scenery similar to a crop circle. As they venture further, they discover a mysterious spaceship and enter it out of curiosity. To their surprise, they come across Yudias Velgear, an alien from the Velgear Star Cluster. As it turns out, Yudias is seeking to learn about Rush Duel—a card game popular among elementary school students—as he believes that it will save his home from a long war.

With the siblings agreeing to teach Yudias about Rush Duel, they eventually realize that their first contact with an alien may not be a random coincidence.

this is my first reviews, i think this show still overhated because many of the yu-gi-oh player/fans expect an anime of the original series that use more unused/new archetype, new character, new method, or something else. but i must say if they continue to name some new summoning method again, that will ruin the game because the game already became a very complicated being, that a newbie/new player must learn how to play, read over 10k card effect, learn to know some summoning method, how to play the selected archetype, etc. that is too much for a newbie/ new player/ a player just play for ... fun/a passerby to swallows unless they really want to learn.

so this continuation of rush duel is not so continuation of the prequel, idk if there will be a flashback of a scene or plot continuation from yu-gi-oh sevens or not, but so far is no.
the only connection is some of the side character in sevens is comeback but somehow all the main cast already have the decendant and the real main cast is gone, i'm hoping there will be some plot continuation from sevens tho.
when i watch this, i feel the enjoyment of fresh series just like the prequel, sevens. so far the story still basic/knowing/learning phase, but i think it will starting a real plot in the episode 10.
of course i didn't set my expectation so/too high so i still can get the enjoyment, all i do is just watch the show like normally i do.

in my opinion, they seemly have some fresh idea, because i fell this show is really different than before. they not just focus on duel, there are some episode that the charater didn't duel at all. and for some reason i rather like this one that the first part of zexal because somehow i hate that part. for this show until this point (episode 10) i think comedy will fit the category
and as for the learning part on the story, i found it really interesting too see a how a new player learning things thats why i think this more to comedy in my opinion. and btw this go rush take place 50 years after the sevens ending

the character for me is quite interesting and they have some potential
Yuuhi: one of our main character, and one of the oudou twins, son of yuuga (our main character of sevens) and i expect asana as their mother, but idk. he has something named "earthdamar' i don't know what it is, but i think it will be the problem source in the first arc i think. if you see on the episode 10, you will know what i mean. his deck is machine deck, a junk like deck like yusei's one

Yuamu: one of our main character, and one of the oudou twins, daughter of yuuga (our main character of sevens), for the dueling skills, she said she is better than yuuhi. she is the president of an organization called UTS, some organization that supposedly research things about alien and stuff and help the citizen all the trouble that connected to alien/supranatural things (in the episode 8 they said she still 5th grader, what!?), her deck are cyberse + dragon, things that connected to cyber/tech things so something like yusaku does. but i get the feeling that she is better than yuuhi

Yudias: an alien main cast just like zexal, but unlike zexal, he is human alien, not pure alien like astral, so human from other planet. he didn't know anything about yu-gi-oh, dueling and stuff, he even don't know how to open a booster pack. but his archetype is making me curious about the series. what will the creator will do with the new type-galaxy. but seeing him really curious about thing is the source of comedy i think, and he is most interesting character above the other, like when his eyes spining to see washing machine and ended up laser beaming the washing machine. his curiosity and environment adaptation is what make me stay to watch go rush

manabu: a sougetsu son so he is gakuto's son, i wonder who is he ended up with. but rather than countinuing using warrior like his father, he using pyro and fire based and he not continuing the sougetsu style, it was explained in the episode 9. so i think he will have interesting character development in the future because of his past.

and there's some other comeback cast like omae no ushiro, the yaki guy and sushi girl, and many other. we can even see atachi's decendant, manya, that using loli dian keto as ace. and there's galient tazaki, one of asana's team member that became UTS worker too and UTS was build by Yuuga and he is something like one of the highest ranking staff that so close with yuamu, so this make me believe that yuuga is ended up with asana and make me curious too, what happen to the main cast of sevens and why they are disappear just like that because i believe the are not dead yet even if 50 years already passed.

in my opinion the curiosity of what happen in the sevens ending and after sevens end is what make me keep the enjoyment plus the new alien main cast make things more enjoyable for me because of his "first time in earth" thing

in my opinion, so far is good, but still standard, but they have some potential as a series in my opinion and the curiosity of what happen adding the point too. but still i found this anime is enjoyable as a light anime.

Mixed Feelings

Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush is the most ambitious show in the franchise with aliens, a continuous plot throughout, deep connections with the previous show and a lot of other spoiler reasons. However, did the execution match these lofty ambitions? Well that’s what I will try to answer with this review.

Firstly, I highly recommend watching Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens before diving into this series. Without going into details, Go Rush references Sevens a lot including plot points late into the anime. Furthermore, the payoffs in Go Rush hit more if you have watched it and Sevens is just a good series in general. They share most of their staff ... too so you’ll have a better idea of what to expect.
I will also make comparisons to Sevens because they are so connected it can feel like they're two sides of the same coin.

With that out of the way, let’s talk about Go Rush itself. It doesn’t have the best start with a lot of tutorials for people new to the game. It’s justified in the story but it’s not really fun to watch. Thankfully it does pick up and I would say the overall dueling quality of the show is pretty good.

As for the cast, the aliens feel like aliens which is both a good and a bad thing. It’s a good thing because it makes them stand out even among all of the Yu-Gi-Oh! characters we have gotten over the years and it creates interesting new conflicts. However them being aliens sometimes makes it hard to relate or even to understand them. There were times where I just didn’t really get what was going on.
The character that suffered the most of this for me was the main character Yuudias. For most of the show I wasn’t a big fan of him and there were instances where I didn’t like how he reacted to the events of the story. He’s not a bad character though and I ended up liking his arc in the end.
One of the alien characters that I found well-executed was Zwijo. His motives are often unknown but in this case it feels deliberate. He also has a ton of charisma and almost every scene he’s in feels impactful.
Regarding the human characters, having twins as main characters was a good idea and it delivers with emotional moments. Yuuhi was someone I didn’t like much at the beginning with really bad comedic scenes but his development made him grow on me. As for Yuamu, she’s a solid character all the way through with the clash between her intelligence and her feelings. I would say she’s one of the best female characters we’ve gotten in the franchise.
The rest of the human cast are all variants of Sevens characters. There are some that I like better like Manabu and Yuuna and others that I don’t like as much like Manya and Rovian.
Overall, I think the cast is good with a lot of characters to like and to think about. My gripe is that the connections between them can sometimes feel a bit weak so I didn’t get attached to them as much as I thought I would. A lot of them are supposed to be friends but we don’t see them hang out or have fun that much as a result of the series being plot-focused.

Talking about the plot, I thought it was interesting and went to some unexpected places. Of course this being a show aimed at kids some things like the war on Velgear couldn’t be fully explored but they did what they could.
What wasn’t handled very well in my opinion was the comedy. Comedy is very subjective but I liked Sevens’ comedy so I expected to like it here too. However, it just didn’t happen and I pretty much never laughed. There were even two episodes that I specifically remember because the comedy was bad. It’s not a deal-breaker because Go Rush isn’t comedy-focused like Sevens was but it’s a shame nonetheless.
The biggest improvement this series made over Sevens were the antagonists. They have menacing moments and varied motives that make sense. One of them is even one of the best characters of the show and stands up to past Yu-Gi-Oh! villains which is a high bar to clear!

All in all, Go Rush is probably my least favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! show but it’s not bad at all. As somebody who enjoys character-focused stories the most I liked Sevens more but I could easily see someone prefering Go Rush.
It’s definitely one of the weirdest anime I've watched too so it stands out for that alone!

The eighth series in the Yugioh franchise. Not only does it continue the terrible Rush Duelling from Sevens but every single episode is designed to insult the audience’s intelligence with plot holes, logic holes and just in general childish writing. Not to mention, this series has no problem creating massive time paradoxes and just shrugging them off as though they’re not a problem. And a protagonist so childish and naive, he can’t even play the game properly at the beginning.

If you are one of the people who like this show, congratulations, you like a show made by people who think you are an idiot.
