Extraordinary Measures plot
"Don't hope for a miracle. Make one."
John and Aileen Crowley have three children. The two youngest, Megan and Patrick, have Pompe disease. A hereditary and congenital metabolic disease. The children seem short-lived, until John comes into contact with scientist Dr. Robert Stonehill (Harrison Ford). Together with him, he starts a race against time, developing a treatment to cure the disease.

Didn't disappoint. It was just something different. Indeed, in the same vein as John Q, but without a hostage situation. Ok, I have to admit that it is often on the sugary side, but the story and the acting could certainly go through with it. Brendan Fraser was a good father to his ailing doctor (never heard of Pompe disease, by the way) and Harrison Ford got to play one of those hot-tempered doctors again.
But for the rest I still managed to enjoy myself with this film. It is not a high flyer, but it is doable for a Monday evening.

Mediocre film in which a father of two children with Pompe disease works together with a scientist. Other than the cast, this is more of a true TV drama. Not annoying, but all put down in a clichéd way. Absolutely comparable to much better Lorenzo's Oil.
