"The Untold True Story"
The Kennedy family had lost three heirs by 1969, and Ted was the family's last hope of upholding their name and aspirations in American politics. Father Joe Kennedy, however, never thought highly of his youngest son. On the island of Chappaquiddick, a party is being held for all employees who served under Robert Kennedy's 1968 presidential campaign, including Mary Jo. Ted and Mary Jo sneak out for a reckless ride in the dark that ends in tragedy. After the drowning, a battalion of advisers tries to cover up the incident, with the Apollo 11 moon landing providing a distraction.

Not bad. You probably have to feel some affinity with the subject to appreciate this, but it remains a beautiful tragic story with a sober, safe, but also adequate and respectful elaboration. Could have been better with stronger actors. Mara and Clarke are familiar faces, but not top performers in their field, and this is particularly noticeable with the latter. The drama and soul pain of the character Ted Kennedy comes across well due to the mediocre acting, but at times, you actually constantly have the feeling that Chappaquiddick could have been better. With their much shorter contribution, Dern and Helms show more class and emotion than Clarke during the more than an hour and a half that he is on screen, making the latter without a doubt the weakest link in an otherwise reasonable film adaptation.

Good film about a car accident in which a woman dies and in which Ted Kennedy was the driver. Based on a true story. Fascinating material as it deals with an important political figure and the decisions that are made by him. Of course it remains a guess as to what exactly happened in the back rooms, but this film is quite detailed and therefore sometimes looks exciting.

I thought this film was going to be the life story of the man, but the film actually focuses on one incident. I had never heard of it, so it was interesting to see. The cast did a great job and the decoration was good. Furthermore, the film was not boring. Thought it was worth seeing.
