Amazing and fresh take on an overused concept. So, by now we all know isekai dominates the anime landscape, however, Skeleton knight manages to take many of these overused ideas and provide a fresh spin. I really enjoyed reading the first novel and am looking forward to more. Arc is basically a less edgy and non evil Ains which I appreciate because I honestly don't like ains and how he treats people. The side characters like Lauren, Rita and Ariane are the usual isekai girls, but hey, it's entertaining. I enjoy it and recommend picking it up. Book two launches in September.

So, after having finished finally reading a nice translated copy of this novel, I have to say:
It was an awesome read. I won't delve too much into the story to avoid spoilers, but the characters are easily identified with, the elements of seriousness mixed with comedy and a small hint of romance from time to time makes for a highly enjoyable story. I'm saddened at how it ended - but I can understand the author's intent to 'keep the world alive' with his ending. There is little likelihood of continuation from how he worded his final notes, but all in all it was a fine ... way to wrap things up. It certainly opened the door for potential side stories, should he ever get a hankering to write them...or if enough time passes, someone else may take on the task, who knows. That said, I can't recommend this novel enough!

Gaikotsu Kishi-sama, Tadaima Isekai e Odekakechuu has been fun to read so far. It feels just like the average isekai novel featuring an overpowered mc but that's fine for me.
The story has the protagonist fight a couple of unjust foes, help the impoverished and rediscover Japanese cuisine. Just the average isekai stuff. Nothing wrong with that.
The only thing that bothers me about the story is the lack of narrative. Namely, the story seems to be all over the place. Interesting characters and places are introduced at the start of every story arc. But after resolving their problem, in what feels like a single paragraph, ... the protagonist just spectacularly ignores them and never mentions them again. And this keeps happening time and again. At first, I thought that there must be some hidden overarching story arc that I just hadn't noticed yet. But I'm five volumes in now and it just keeps happening, without them showing any meaningful connections between them.
Despite that, the adventures are still fun to follow and the protagonist and his teammates are interesting to read about.

All this together has lead to me giving this series a 6. It was fun to read, but it just wasn't anything special. It was just average.
