For the KLP application, you are required to include one professional reference and one academic reference. For both of these, you should think about who knows you best and can speak to your abilities. Professional references include managers, supervisors, and bosses from work experiences; or supervisors/leaders from extracurricular programs if you don’t have much work experience. Academic references should be professors at your community college.
Practice, practice, practice! Ask a friend, teacher, or adult in your life to practice with you. You can google many lists of interview questions online.
The KLP is not a scholarship! However, KLP Scholars receive financial support while working on their transfer applications, and the fees associated with transfer applications (for up to 10 schools) are covered by the KEF. Additionally, post-transfer, KLP Scholars receive funding for their transportation to and from their four-year schools at the beginning and end of each semester. KLP Scholars are also eligible to receive new laptops, funding for specific school fees, funding for test prep, and intensive career and application support.
