Abstract
Zusammenfassung Gesellschaftliche und wirtschaftliche Dynamiken führen zu einem stetigen Wandel von Wirtschaftsstrukturen. Abhängig von der regionalen Wirtschaftsstruktur verlaufen Anpassungsprozesse einfacher oder schwerer. Die transformatorischen Veränderungen wirken sich dabei positiv oder negativ auf die wirtschaftliche Stärke einer Region aus. Der Beitrag zeichnet auf, wie sich regionale Disparitäten aktuell darstellen und welche Regionen von sich abzeichnenden Megatrends profitieren können bzw. in welchen der Anpassungsdruck zunehmen wird. Damit der Wandel gelingt, sind unterstützende politische Rahmenbedingungen und Vorleistungen der öffentlichen Hand unabdingbar.
