Abstract
L'ambition de cet article est d'explorer les conséquences individuelles du phénomène émergent de l'engagement salarié pour l'environnement. En effet, face aux enjeux socio-écologiques contemporains et au constat d'un déficit d'actions d'ampleur des entreprises, de plus en plus de salariés s'engagent volontairement pour l'environnement au sein de leur organisation. Pour que cet engagement soit source d'impacts notables, il paraît nécessaire qu'il s'accompagne de conséquences positives pour les salariés concernés. Or, la littérature est ambiguë sur ce point pour lequel nous disposons de peu de travaux. Au travers d'une étude exploratoire auprès de 37 salariés engagés, nous mettons en évidence trois grands types d'apports (psychologiques, cognitifs et relationnels) globalement positifs dont la nature et l'ampleur sont toutefois variables d'un salarié engagé à l'autre. En outre, nous proposons de considérer ces apports comme des ressources que certains salariés réinvestissent afin d'accroître leur engagement dans une logique de construction de carrière responsable. Ces résultats sont discutés avec trois littératures s'intéressant à l'action des salariés pour l'environnement (travaux en comportement organisationnel sur le green employee behavior, travaux sur les micro-fondations de la responsabilité sociétale de l'entreprise et sur l'activisme interne). Les limites de ce travail et des pistes de recherches sont évoqués en conclusion.
