Disability Insurance Automated Phone Service Instructions

Agents are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except on holidays. You can call either phone number below:

  • English: 1-800-480-3287
    • After the greeting, press 1 or wait for English.
  • Spanish: 1-866-658-8846
    • After the greeting, say “Spanish” or press 2.

We offer free interpretive services. To ask for a different language, say or press 3 to speak to an agent. When you reach an agent, ask for an interpreter in the language you need.

Listen carefully to the instructions and choose the best option that fits your needs. The phone system will give you different options depending on your choices at the start.

Important: If we call you, your caller ID will show “Public Service Disability Insurance Office 1-800-480-3287”.

For faster service, have your Claim ID and SSN/EDD Client Number (ECN) ready.

  • You can find your Claim ID on the SDI Online homepage of your myEDD account. It is also on the Notice of Computation (DE 429D) that we mail to you. 
  • If you do not have an SSN, or we have security concerns about your SSN, we will assign you an ECN. If you have an ECN, use that instead of an SSN.
  • Providing this information is optional. If you choose not to provide this information, you will still have the option to speak with an agent.

After you select your first options and listen to the recordings, you have an option to reach an agent by saying “agent” or pressing 0.
