As Garrett "the Garbage Man" Garrison, a former Gamer of the Year winner in 1989, the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Fast X star pops on screen, even amid the colorful cubic wonderland that is the Overworld. The getup, including a pink leather jacket with fringe on the sleeves and what he calls a "power mullet," came from a combination of costume designer Amanda Neale, director Jared Hess, and some of his own personal goodies. "Amanda knew that I loved pink. I think she brought in the fringe and jacket all on her own," Momoa tells Entertainment Weekly in an interview with Jack Black. "The pants...Obviously, we knew we were gonna do stonewash, kind of Slash pants. The Vision shoes were mine. The Vision shoes and the claws gloves were my little thing." "I think Jared really wanted me in a mullet," he says. "So that was all boss man wanting a power mullet." Garrett represents the "noob" of A Minecraft Movie, the "newbie" member of the group. But what he lacks in knowledge and experience he makes up for in vintage fashion, representing the era when he peaked. Momoa is currently filming his role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Lobo, a hardcore, motorcycle jacket-sporting motormouth who serves as a galactic bounty hunter with dreadlocks. He's the opposite of Garrett. Want more movie news? Sign up for Entertainment Weekly's free newsletter to get the latest trailers, celebrity interviews, film reviews, and more. "Lobo would slap the sh-- out of Garrett," Momoa cracks. "But they might be pals, he'd definitely...be a little suspect, but Garrett is suspect." Pictures Jason Momoa teases his Lobo casting in Supergirl: 'Born to do it' (exclusive) The actor was jonesing to do comedy, though some of his past roles, including Aquaman, courted laughs. "No one will give me a shot at it," he says. Then producer Cale Boyter, who worked with Momoa on Dune, brought up A Minecraft Movie, directed by Hess. "Then I'm like, 'We have to have Jack Black,' have to do it," Momoa continues. "I'll take a pay cut for Jack Black. Bring me the Black! And, sure enough, he said yes." Black returns the compliment. "I've been checking out Jason's super sauce on Aquaman and on Fast & Furious. I was like, 'This guy is a rising star and he's really got a rad, likable energy and he seems like a party animal,'" he says. "I felt simpatico. As soon as Jared said that, some bells went off in my head, and I was like, 'This works for me.' I can feel this being a powerful combo. I already was following Jason on Insta, so I shot him over a little DM just for a heat check, just for a friendship probe to see if this was real. He shot me back like instant, like, 'F--- yeah it's happening. This is going down, b----.'" See their chemistry, and Momoa's Garrett getup, on screen in A Minecraft Movie, opening this Friday.
