Review: Following on from the rapid-fire sales of the reissue of their 1982 debut LP The Kids Will Have Their Say in 2023, Boston thrashcore mob SS Decontrol (before officially shortening their name to SSD) are set to continue their repress momentum with an equally long overdue new variant of their seminal 1983 Get It Away EP. Often cited as their best work, these seven cuts spread out over 11 minutes were the first to feature secondary guitarist Francois Levesque, who helped the band begin their slow metamorphosis into the venomous thrash metal outfit they would later become, while the feral reimagining of 'No Reply' by Buzzcocks needs to cave your head in to be fully appreciated. With half the cuts clocking in at under a solitary minute, The Kids Will Have Their Say is a timeless, visionary, uncompromising, pioneering, standard-setting classic that only grows more domineering and influential as the modern hardcore scene continues to expand in popularity.
