WB and IDB pledge further funding for Milei's Argentina

The World Bank (WB) announced Friday a US$ 12 billion financing package for Argentina over three years to support economic stabilization and reforms. Pending board approval, the initiative consists of several contributions as follows:

Argentine prosecutor wants Iran's supreme leader arrested

Argentine Prosecutor Sebastián Basso has filed a request before Federal Judge Daniel Rafecas for an international arrest warrant against Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei for his alleged involvement in ordering the 1994 bombing of the Argentine Israeli Mutual Association (AMIA) headquarters in Buenos Aires, which killed 85 people and injured over 300.

Fuegian town of Tolhuin wants British-funded radar dismantled

The City Hall of Tolhuin in the Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego -which technically includes the Malvinas (Falkland) Islands and the other British Overseas Territories claimed by the South American country- filed a tax execution lawsuit to dismantle a radar installed by the British company LeoLabs in the area, citing violations of local regulations and national sovereignty.

Trump lowers huge tariffs for everybody but ups those for China

US President Donald Trump Wednesday announced a 90-day freeze on reciprocal tariffs for most countries, reducing them to a 10% baseline, while raising tariffs on Chinese goods to 125%, effective immediately. The decision followed negotiations with over 75 nations interested in new trade terms, spurred by Trump’s initial tariff announcements last week.

Pope Francis and King Charles meeting takes places at last

Pope Francis was visited by King Charles III and Queen Camilla in a private audience Wednesday, despite earlier cancellations due to the Pope's health issues. The meeting took place at Casa Santa Marta, where the former Archbishop of Buenos Aires has been recovering from a hospital stay for bilateral pneumonia.
