There’s nothing a network hates more in an NFL game than a blowout. With the end a done deal, that’s when even football fanatics switch to another channel. Oddly, that’s not what happened last night on Thursday Night Football (3.7/12) on CBS. Although the Seattle Seahawks lambasted the San Francisco 49ers 20-3, the blended fast nationals on CBS and NFL Network actually bopped up 6% over last week’s early numbers in adults 18-49. That October 15 game from 8:20-11:15 PM between the winning New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons went up to a 4.9/15 in final numbers with an audience of 14.78 million. Right now, the viewership for last night’s NFL game on CBS is at 11.08 million in fast nationals, just a touch down from the 11.20 million last week’s game saw.

With two big West Coast markets playing last night we will see an adjustment in the numbers later – maybe even larger than usual — plus there were no baseball playoffs as competition. In metered market results, the Seahawks’s win over the 49ers pulled in an 11.5, up 10% from last week’s season low. As it stands, CBS easily won the night with a 3.6/12 rating and 10.98 million viewers.
Elsewhere on the Big 4, it was pretty much a Thursday of more steady results. The same cannot be said of the CW, which saw The Vampire Diaries (0.5/2) and The Originals (0.4/1) fall 17% and 20%, respectively, as both matched series lows in fast nationals.
The 250th episode of Grey’s Anatomy (2.4/8) was called “Guess Who’s Coming For Dinner,” but the real meal was that the Shonda Rhimes show saw a 4% demo rise to hit a four-week high. That’s Grey’s best result since the 2.7 of its Season 12 premiere September 24. Lead-out Scandal (2.5/8) was also up 4% from its October 15 episode and the highest-rated non-sports show on the Big 4 last night. How To Get Away With Murder (2.0/7) was even with last week and is matching a series low in fast nationals.
NBC’s The Player (0.8/3) saw the biggest demo rise of the night with a 14% uptick over its October 15 episode. Not far behind was Fox’s Bones (1.2/4) with a 9% rise from last week. Otherwise, Sleepy Hollow (0.8/3), Heroes Reborn (1.1/4) and The Blacklist (1.4/4) were even with last week.
