Review: Dietro il Processo is a TV investigation series directed by Franco Biancacci that was broadcast by RAI in Italy from 1978 to 1980 as part of the Storie allo Specchio series. The legendary Ennio Morricone composed the main theme and scored three episodes: L'urlo, L'ultima notte di Pier Paolo Pasolini and Il caso Montesi. Although the tracks were not initially released in any format, the soundtrack became available on CD in 2009. For Record Store Day 2025, this first-ever LP edition has been assembled and comes on white vinyl so allows a chance to revisit to these most dramatic pieces.

Review: Dominique Baumard's 2025 detective comedy drama, Les Regles de l'art, is a chuckle-inducing exploration of art theft and scandal, reenacting a legendary pilfering of paintings from the Musee d'Art Moderne in Paris in 2010. The plot centres on the trio of thieves who stole €100 million worth of works of art by Picasso, Matisse and Modigliani; they were sentenced to prison, but the paintings were never found. Now the OST by soundtrack artists Lionel LimiNana (more known for his chanson-adjacent project The LimiNanas) and David Menke (more associated with experimental electronica) surfaces. An intermixing of suspenseful legato syntheses and humoured pizzicati help them nail an eternal artistic conundrum - the tradeoff between authenticity of artifice.

Review: Definitely not to be confused with the 2005 Neo-noir US movie of the same name, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was a 1966 Eurospy comedy directed by Duccio Tessari. The plot, which contains several genre tropes, revolves around a retired espionage agent who receives a death sentence after being caught trying to steal L1 million dollars. At the last minute, he's offered a reprieve, if he can steal a secret formula before terrorist Mr X does. We won't divulge what happens next, but as spy movies tend to, there are plenty of curveballs and red herrings thrown at us. Bruno Nicolai, a powerhouse of Italian cinema during this time, whose tracks have found their way into Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill: Volume 2 and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, delivers an archetypal score for this cinematic canon, packed with tension building percussive movements, swooning and sweeping string and woodwind pop, and even the odd gentle slow dance.

Again, we follow novelist Alan Wake, as he attempts to escape his imprisonment in an alternate dimension by penning a horror story about an FBI agent, Saga Anderson. Both a detective story and a shoot 'em up, the second game bolsters the franchise's neo-noir and gothic Midwestern tropes; the soundtrack is fittingly both lachrymose and chilling, with its contributing scorers - Petri Alanko, Old Gods Of Asgard, Jean Castel and more - portraying Nordic moods of modern, nailbiting mystery. Through stark, grim, minor-keyed anthems, trip-hop furrowers and trembly orchestral laments, we find dead bodies found in the woods, fight spriggan-esque creatures, and soak in moods of noir crime psychodrama, all chillingly captured in a single sonic melange.

Review: There aren't many soundtracks that do as good a job of instantly summoming up the era of their creation than this. Released alongside the cult vampire flick in 1987, this ten-track album encapsulates the 80s sonic landscape, pairing bombastic rock with eerie, atmospheric compositions. This new reissue starts with 'Good Times' by INXS & Jimmy Barnes with an electrified take on The Easybeats' 60s hit. Its energetic riffs and raspy vocals create a charged introduction, though its upbeat nature contrasts the film's dark themes. The mood shifts with Lou Gramm's 'Lost in the Shadows (The Lost Boys)', a pulsing, synth-laden rock anthem. Gramm's impassioned delivery, particularly on the chilling chorus, heightens the sense of adventure and peril. Roger Daltrey's interpretation of 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' brings a dramatic, soulful weight to Elton John's classic, perfectly complementing the film's themes of isolation and nocturnal existence. Echo & The Bunnymen's 'People Are Strange' - the biggest hit from the OST - pays homage to The Doors while adding a sharper, post-punk edge, fitting seamlessly into the film's eerie, outsider atmosphere. Then comes the crown jewel: Gerard McMann's 'Cry Little Sister'. The game's soundtrack, composed by Christian Henson alongside The Flight (Joe Henson and Alexis Smith), is a standout achievement, blending Jerry Goldsmith's haunting themes from Alien with original compositions and evoking a powerful sense of dread and nostalgia. Familiar motifs like the eerie 'Main Theme' and the otherworldly 'Alien Planet' theme resurface with reverence, while innovative use of echoplexed percussion and avant-garde techniques add modern intensity. The new material enhances the game's atmosphere with orchestral tension, electronic elements and haunting vocals, particularly in tracks like 'The Descent'. Review: Two decades after its theatrical release, American soundtrack king John Williams' score for A.I. Artificial Intelligence finally arrives on vinyl. It's a shocker: perhaps the posthuman subject of this unmistakable Steven Spielberg film bespeaks the studio's reluctance to vinyl-ise its score, as the retro format, at first glance, hardly complements the film's futuristic theme. Though it is a late recombinant cultural move, this reissue reveals something pertinent to the film's message: that neoclassical scores aren't just for humans. As David, a robotic child programmed to love, longs to belong after being cast aside by his human family, Williams' score keeps firm to the traditional orchestral movement, refusing the easy temptation to "electronicise". This 2xLP edition is mastered by James Plotkin and housed in a gatefold sleeve featuring artwork by Sara Wong, with design contributions from Jordan Christianson and Jesse Michael Taylor, making it both a sonic and visual tribute to one of Williams' most daring works.
