Francesco CARRABS Curriculum

CURRENT ACADEMIC POSITION
Since 2024 prof. Carrabs is a Full Professor of Operations Research at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Salerno.

PREVIOUS ACADEMIC POSITIONS

  • From 2020 to 2024 he was Associate Professor in Operations Research at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Salerno.
  • From 2008 to 2020 he was Assistant Professor in Operations Research at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Salerno.
  • From 2007 to 2008 he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Salerno.
  • From March 2006 to July 2026, he signed a cooperation agreement with the Department of Statistics, Probability, and Applied Statistics of the University of Rome “Sapienza”. Supervisor: prof. Paolo Dell’Olmo.

RESEARCH PERIOD ABROAD

  • Between 2004 and 2006 he was a visiting scholar at the CRT (Centre de recherche sur les transports), University of Montréal, Canada. Supervisors: prof. Gilbert Laporte and prof. Jean-François Cordeau.
  • From October 2006 to March 2007, he did a postdoctoral internship at the HEC Montréal (Canada Research Chair in Logistics and March 2007 Transportation). Supervisor: prof. Jean-François Cordeau.

EDUCATION

  • In 2006 he obtained his doctorate in Computer Science at the University of Salerno.
  • In 2002 he graduated (cum laude) in Computer Science at the University of Salerno.


INSTITUTIONAL ACTIVITIES

  • Since 2023 member of the "Spin Off and Technology Transfer" committee of the University of Salerno.
  • Since 2023 member of the "IRIS (Institutional Research Information System)" committee of the Department of Mathematics, University of Salerno.
  • Since 2022 delegate for the "Cruscotto Dipartimentale" of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Salerno.
  • Since 2022 member of the "Teaching Council", of the Department of Mathematics, University of Salerno.
  • From 2022 to 2023 member of the "Project Team", of the University of Salerno, for the business process reengineering of the procedures no longer useful to the administrative needs.

  • From 2020 to 2023 delegate for the "Distance Teaching" (adopted because of the COVID-19 pandemic) of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Salerno.

  • Since 2018 member of "Placement" committee of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Salerno.

  • Since 2015 scientific manager of the "Mathematical models and methods for applications" laboratory of the University of Salerno.

PUBLICATIONS
The research activity of prof. Carrabs is mainly devoted to the theoretical study, development and implementation of exact and heuristic approaches for the resolution of several optimization problems. The results of this research have led to the publication of about 50 papers classified as follows:
