Review: Virginia's Stimulator Jones channels all things jungle on Valley Center, his debut album on Craigie Knowes. Sam Lunsford is multi-talented genre-spanning artist; from songwriting to singing, programming drum machines to drumming, performing live to DJing, Valley Center flaunts it all; Lunsford's seamless genre-hopping skills with the outcome an LP packed with tracks that wouldn't sound out of place on LTJ Bukem's Logical Progression series or in the Metalheadz archives. From the skittery, airy and scratchy off of 'Submersible' to the more-than-deep abyssal movements of 'Kinda Deep' and the penultimate jump-up swang of 'Valley Winds', Valley Center is a full-length swim through a preternatural valley, whose meandering river flows with not only brackish waters, but also impossible liquids.

Review: Stimulator Jones, you might know, is a Stones Throw artist, but here he lands on the house-leaning Star Creature with a new and exquisite outing that finds him tapping into a different side of his skills. He has dropped several fantastic albums before now that go from hip-hop to jazz-funk but here he taps into the magic of Chicago house greats like Fingers Inc and Larry Heard. 'Night Walk' is pure mid-tempo deep house perfection, 'Precious' layers in some tender vocals and a melodic bassline and 'Strive To Survive' brings more manic acid lines. 'Moon' shuts down with some irresistible swing and cosmic synth work.

Review: Lexx's latest release, 'Right By Your Side,' is a disco-infused collaboration featuring the smooth vocals of Stones Throw recording artist Stimulator Jones. The track exudes Balearic and pop disco vibes, inviting listeners to groove along to its infectious beat. On the flip side, Jamma-Dee from Los Angeles offers up a remix that adds a slightly more uptempo flair while maintaining the essence of the original. Lexx's production skills shine through, creating a seamless blend of retro and contemporary sounds that will surely get dancefloors moving. With Stimulator Jones' catchy and Jamma-Dee's expert remix, 'Right By Your Side' is something to get your hands on.
