Mary C. Gilbride is a judge for the Fifth District Court in Nebraska. She has served in this position since 1998.[1] Gilbride was retained in 2014 for a term that expires in 2020.[2]

Gilbride was retained to the 5th District with 70.7 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [2] 

Education

Gilbride received her B.S. from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 1977 and her J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in 1982.[1]

Career

Gilbride began her legal career in 1982 as a law clerk to Justice Boslaugh of the Nebraska Supreme Court. In 1984, she became corporate counsel to Peter Kiewit Sons', Inc. She worked in that capacity until his appointment to county court judge (5th District) in 1992. She was then promoted district court judge in 1998.[1]

2012 judicial performance evaluation

Every two years, the Nebraska State Bar Association compiles responses from lawyers to evaluate judges in the state. Subjects are rated in seven categories, then a determination is made for whether the judge should be retained. The seven categories considered are: legal analysis; impartiality; attentiveness; opinions; judicial temperament and demeanor; appropriate communication; and timeliness.
