- On April 10, 2015, Lincoln Chafee stated on Morning Joe that he would support an increase in the minimum wage, Pell Grants, Head Start and other “social programs to help build the middle class.”[1]
- As governor of Rhode Island, Chafee sought to reduce waste and fraud in the Office of Health and Human Services through a third-party study of the agency, legislative package and state budget funding for the Office of Program Oversight and Integrity.[2]
- Chafee supported the federal government’s disbursement of more than $530,000 in SNAP benefits to Rhode Island residents affected by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.[3]
- In 2006, Chafee voted against “establish[ing] a reserve fund for Social Security reform.”[4].
- In 2003, Chafee co-sponsored S 1411 - National Affordable Housing Trust Fund Act of 2003, which sought to increase the availability of affordable low-income housing through grants.[5]
