A Laketon Township Public Safety Levy Renewal proposal was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Muskegon County, which is in Michigan, where it was approved.
This proposal authorized the Township of Laketon to renew a previously approved property tax increase of 1.957 mills ($1.957 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for 5 years in order to fund Public Safety services. The estimated first year revenue from this tax is $408,333.08.[1]

Language on the ballot:
“ | This millage is a renewal of a previously authorized millage. Shall the tax limitation on the general ad valorem taxes with Laketon Township imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution as previously increased for said Township by up to 1.9570 mills ($1.9570 per $1,000 of taxable value) be continued for the period 2014 through 2018 inclusive for Public Safety (Fire Protection, Police Protection and Fire Hydrant Fees); and shall the Township levy such millage for said purpose, thereby, raising in the first year up to an estimated $408,333.08?[1][2] | ” |
