Jon Holmen is the superintendent of the Lake Washington School District. Holmen was appointed as the district's superintendent on July 1, 2020. Holmen's previous career experience includes working as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, associate superintendent, and deputy superintendent.[1]

Members of the Lake Washington School District school board are elected to four-year terms. Two or three seats are up for election on a staggered basis in odd-numbered years.

Two seats on the board are up for general election on November 4, 2025. A primary is scheduled for August 5, 2025. The filing deadline for this election is May 9, 2025.

Public participation in board meetings

The Lake Washington School District school board maintains the following policy on public testimony during board meetings:[3]

Public Comment at Regular Board Meetings

  • The Board recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of involving members of the public in its meetings. In order to permit fair and orderly expression of such comment, the Board will provide a thirty (30) minute period at the beginning of the meeting during which visitors may express an opinion, either in-person or virtually. Each individual is provided up to three (3) mintues.
  • Individuals must sign-up to provide public comment in person or virtually by 12 noon the day of the Board meeting. Order of comments will be on a first-come first-served basis.
  • Individuals may email written public comments by 12 noon the day of the Board meeting. Public comments will be included in the Board packet and minutes of the meeting. The topics of these comments will be summarized at the end of the public comment period.
  • Individuals with disabilities who may need a modification to participate in a meeting should contact the superintendent's office no later than three days before a regular meeting and as soon as possible in advance of a special meeting so that arrangements for the modification can be made.
  • Individuals who may need an interpreter to participate in a meeting should contact the Superintendent’s office no later than three days before a regular meeting, and as soon as possible in advance of a special meeting so that arrangements for the interpreter can be made.[4]
