Issues
According to her campaign website, Treadway is focusing on five major issues:
- Aggressively invest and protect taxpayer money.
- Guard the state’s Credit Rating and be Louisiana’s ambassador to national financial markets.
- Keep a lid on state debt and ensure what we do borrow is spent wisely.
- Speed the return of citizens' lost money by creating a secure Unclaimed Property online refund system.
- Be a Watchdog on the Governor and the Legislature and call them out when they waste your money.[8]
On the campaign trail, she has criticized both Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal (R) and incumbent Treasurer John Neely Kennedy (R): “The failures of Bobby Jindal and John Kennedy as Chief Executives have kept Louisiana at the bottom of the good lists for far too long. Their fiscal irresponsibility and tyrannical leadership have prevented Louisiana from progressing."[9]
She also criticized Kennedy for considering a gubernatorial bid: “Louisiana deserves a Treasurer who will focus on being Treasurer of Louisiana, not on seeking a higher office." Ultimately, Kennedy decided to seek a fifth term as treasurer, and faced his only opponent, Treadway, in the primary election on October 24, 2015.[9][10]
