Biography
Jon Cardin was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Cardin earned a bachelor's degree in international relations from Tufts University in 1992, a master's degree in policy sciences from the University of Maryland at Baltimore County in 1996, a master's degree in Judaic studies from Baltimore Hebrew University in 1996, and a juris doctor from the University of Maryland in 2001. His career experience includes working as an attorney; a Spanish teacher and a lacrosse and basketball coach with Mercersburg Academy; and a law clerk to Judge William D. Quarles, Jr., of the Baltimore City Circuit Court. Cardin has served as the vice chairman of the American Council of Young Political Leaders and the executive director of the Project Judaica Foundation.[1]

Cardin announced his 2014 candidacy for Attorney General of Maryland in a Youtube video, released July 22, 2013.[2] [3] He lost the Democratic nomination in the primary on June 24, 2014. The general election took place on November 4, 2014.

Cardin came in first in the general election on November 2, 2010, securing re-election to the first of three seats in the district.[4]
2006
On November 7, 2006, Jon Cardin ran for District 11 of the Maryland House of Delegates, winning the first of three seats, beating Dan Morhaim, Dana Stein, Patrick Dyer, Patrick Abbondandolo, and Dave Goldsmith.[5]

Cardin has been Chair of the Maryland Bicycle and Pedestrian Caucus, and a member of the Task Force on Comparable Testing Methods for the Maryland High School Assessments, Task Force to Study the Dynamics of Elderly and Retiree Migration into and out of Maryland, and the Maryland Green Caucus.[7]
