Georgene Louis
Georgene Louis (Democratic Party) was a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, representing District 26. She assumed office in 2013. She left office on December 31, 2022.
Louis (Democratic Party) ran in a special election to the U.S. House to represent New Mexico's 1st Congressional District. She lost in the special Democratic convention on March 30, 2021.
Biography
Louis' professional experience includes working as an attorney and as an adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico.[1]

Noteworthy events
Arrested on charges of impaired driving (2022)
On the morning of February 14, 2022, Louis was stopped by Santa Fe police and arrested for aggravated drunken driving and driving without proof of registration and insurance.[9] She was arraigned and released later the same day.[10] Louis also issued an apology on February 14, 2022.[9]
Louis initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, but in May, she entered a no-contest plea to one charge of drunken driving. Louis was sentenced to 24 hours of community service and ordered to pay a $250 fine to the State Ethics Commission.[10][11]
