Gary Jones (Oklahoma)
Gary Jones (b. 1955) is the former Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector. A Republican, he served in the position from 2011 to 2019.
Jones was a Republican candidate for governor of Oklahoma.[1] He lost the primary election on June 26, 2018.
Jones ran for re-election without opposition in the 2014 elections. The general election took place on November 4, 2014. Gary Jones (Oklahoma) won the general election on November 4, 2014, without opposition.
Biography
Jones, the son of a U.S. Army veteran with 23 years of service, was born at Fort Still, Oklahoma. He attended grade school in Oklahoma, Texas and Germany before graduating from Lawton Eisenhower High School. He went on to graduate from Cameron University with degrees in business administration and accounting.[2]
Jones was elected Comanche County Commissioner in 1994 and served in that office for four years. He was elected Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman in 2003 and served in that capacity until he resigned in 2010 to run for auditor.[2]

Jones was a member of the RNC Rules Committee, a 112-member body responsible for crafting the official rules of the Republican Party, including the rules that governed the 2016 Republican National Convention.[5]
Appointment process
The convention Rules Committee in 2016 consisted of one male and one female delegate from each state and territorial delegation. The Rules of the Republican Party required each delegation to elect from its own membership representatives to serve on the Rules Committee.
