Chris Barden
R. Christopher Barden (born 1955) is a psychologist and attorney. On April 28, 2010, he announced his candidacy for the statewide office of attorney general, challenging Democratic incumbent Lori Swanson.[1] The following day, he received the endorsement of the Minnesota Republican Party at their annual state convention.[2] Six months later, however, Barden lost in the general election on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010 after receiving slightly over forty-one percent of the vote.

Professional experience
Barden has been a licensed psychologist in Texas since 1984 and in Minnesota since 1988. He received his license to practice law in Minnesota in 1992 and was certified as an official mediator in the state two years later. For ten years, beginning in 1995, Barden was the director of the National Association for Consumer Protection In Mental Health Practices (NACPMHP) before it merged into the Commission for Scientific Medicine and Mental Health (CSMMH), a national health care consumer protection agency, in 2005. At one point, he was appointed by the governor to serve as a member of the Minnesota Licensing Board of Psychology.
