Brian Hill is a former Republican member of the Ohio State Senate, representing District 20 from December 2018 to March 2019. He was appointed to the office to fill the vacancy left by Troy Balderson's election to Congress.[1]

On February 20, 2019, Hill announced that he would resign from his seat at the end of March. He said, “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed serving the people of southeast Ohio during my time in the legislature. After serious discussions with my family, I’ve decided to accept an offer to become the CEO of the Guernsey-Muskingum Electric Cooperative. I plan to remain with the Senate through the end of March. I want to thank my Senate colleagues and President Obhof for the opportunity to serve with them. This has been a difficult decision, but one that is right for my family.”[2]

Hill previously represented District 97 in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2013 to 2018.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Ohio

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

2019

In 2019, the Ohio General Assembly was in session from January 7 through December 31.
