Albert Bryan (Virgin Islands)
Albert Bryan (Democratic Party) is the Governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands. He assumed office on January 7, 2019. His current term ends on January 4, 2027.
Bryan (Democratic Party) ran for re-election for Governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Biography
Bryan was born on February 21, 1968, in St. Thomas. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Wittenberg University in Ohio in 1989. He earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of the Virgin Islands in 2003. Bryan's career experience includes working with HESS Oil Corporation, with the Virgin Islands Housing Authority, with Innovative Communications, as a president and CEO with consulting firm Aabra Group, and as a CEO with Master Strategies, a human resources firm. In 2002, he co-founded a nonprofit organization, Generation Now! Inc.[1]
Political career
Governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands (2019-present)
Bryan was elected as governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands in November 2018. He defeated incumbent Gov. Kenneth Mapp in a runoff election on November 20, 2018. Bryan assumed office in January 2019.[2]
Commissioner of Labor (2007-2015)
Bryan was appointed as Commissioner of Labor by Gov. John P. de Jongh, Jr. in 2007. He left office when a new governor took office in 2015.[1]
