Auburn City Charter, Measure A (June 2012)
A City of Auburn Adoption of a City Charter, Measure A ballot measure was on the June 5, 2012 ballot for voters in the City of Auburn in Placer County.[1]
Measure A was defeated; if it had been approved, the City of Auburn would have become what is known as a "charter city," instead of being what it is now--namely, a "general law city."
Both types of city are recognized under California state law. There are 482 cities in California and as of April 2012, 25% of them (or 120 cities altogether) have charters.
Cities close to Auburn that are charter cities include Grass Valley and Roseville.
