2017

Hansen's campaign website highlighted the following campaign themes:[7]

Creating jobs & fighting for the middle class:

  • Excerpt: "A strong middle class is the economic lifeblood of our country, and Delaware’s labor force is the heartbeat of our state. That’s why creating and preserving quality jobs that pay a living wage will be my top priority in the State Senate. I know from my work as an environmental attorney and New Castle County Council President that we can attract new employers to our state and district without compromising our quality of life."

Preserving our precious farms & open space:

  • Excerpt: "Economic growth is critical for our state, but we must grow in ways that preserve the sanctity of our communities. As a state, we can better coordinate with county and municipal governments on smart growth strategies that incentivize redevelopment and preserve valuable open space. ... I am particularly focused on addressing the traffic on SR 299 and the dangerous intersection at U.S. 40 and SR 896."

Improving our schools & making college more accessible:

  • Excerpt: "Our public schools have enormous potential that’s best realized when we give students the tools they need to learn, and our best teachers the freedom to teach. Uniform standards are important as a baseline for tracking progress, but we cannot allow them to dissuade innovation inside our classrooms. I support recent legislative efforts to curb over-testing in our schools and also support studying ways we can retain our best and brightest teachers and help their good ideas become best practices used at schools across the state."

Ending the addiction epidemic:

  • Excerpt: "By getting people the treatment they need, we can save taxpayer money and help them return to school or the workforce, where they can realize their full potential. My goal will be to attract and build a new, state-of-the-art mental health and addiction treatment center in the 10th Senate District."

Standing with seniors:

  • Excerpt: "There are real questions as to how the federal government will ultimately deal with Social Security and Medicare, but here in Delaware we must continue to do right by our state’s retirees. That’s why I support the preservation of property tax credits for seniors on a fixed income. I also believe we should be vigilant in making sure we’re doing what we can to control health care and prescription drug costs for seniors."

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Delaware

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
