Poll opening and closing times vary from state to state. This page lists poll opening and closing times in each state for the November 6, 2012, election.
Time zone note: Arizona and Hawaii do not observe daylight saving time. Also, 13 states have multiple time zones. Idaho and Oregon are split between the Mountain and Pacific time zones. Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Texas are divided between Central and Mountain time zones. Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee are split between Eastern and Central time zones. Alaska is divided between the Alaska time zone and the Hawaii-Aleutian time zone.

In Alaska, polls were open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Alaska time.[2]
Alaska is divided between the Alaska time zone and the Hawaii-Aleutian time zone.
Arizona

Arkansas

In Idaho, polls were open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time. Polling places could open at 7 a.m. at the discretion of the county clerk.[12]

Illinois

Kansas

In Kansas, polls were open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time. Counties were given the discretion to open the polls earlier and close them later.[16]

Kentucky

Louisiana

Maine

In Maine, polls in municipalities with a population less than 500 opened between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., while polls in municipalities with a population of 500 or more opened between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. All polls closed at 8 p.m.[19]
Maryland

In Maryland, polls were open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Eastern time.[20]
Massachusetts

In Massachusetts, most polling places were open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. However, municipalities were given the discretion to open as early as 5:45 a.m.[21]
Michigan

In Michigan, polls were open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time.[22]
Michigan is split between Eastern and Central time zones.
Minnesota

In Minnesota, most polling places were open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central time. However, some smaller municipalities opened as late as 10:00 a.m.[23]
Mississippi

Missouri

In Montana, polling place hours varied throughout the state. Polling places opened between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and closed at 8:00 p.m.[26]
Nebraska

In Nebraska, polls were open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central time, or 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mountain time.[27]
Nebraska is divided between Central and Mountain time zones.
Nevada

New Hampshire

North Dakota

In North Dakota, polling locations were required to open between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., with the exception of those precincts in which fewer than 75 votes were cast in the last general election. All polling locations were required to remain open until 7:00 p.m. and close no later than 9:00 p.m.[34]

In Tennessee, poll opening times varied by county. All precincts close 8:00 p.m. Eastern and 7:00 p.m. Central. The polls must be open a minimum of 10 hours and may be open for a maximum of 13 hours.[43]
