The Mississippi Election of the Governor, Amendment 2, also known as Amendment 2, was on the ballot in Mississippi on November 2, 1982, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed that the constitution be amended via Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 517. The amendment proposed that the secretary of state provide the results of the gubernatorial election to the speaker of the state House of Representatives on the first day of the next ensuing session, so that it shall be ascertained on the same day who shall be governor.[1]
