Mississippi State Board of Education, Amendment 1 (1982)

The Mississippi State Board of Education, Amendment 1, also known as Amendment 1, was on the ballot in Mississippi on November 2, 1982, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed that the constitution be amended via Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 506. The amendment proposed an amendment to Sections 202 and 203. It proposed that the state superintendent of public education would be appointed by the board of education and that the superintendent would be chief administrator of the Department of Education.[1]
