To put a legislatively referred constitutional amendment before voters, a simple majority vote is required in both the Missouri State Senate and the Missouri House of Representatives.
Amendment in the state Legislature
The amendment was prefiled in the Missouri House of Representatives on December 12, 2022. On March 23, 2023, the House voted 102-37 to pass the amendment. The Senate did not vote on the measure before the end of the legislative session.[2]
