Melissa Rekeweg
Melissa Rekeweg is the deputy director of the Indiana Department of Agriculture. She served as interm director of agriculture from October 2017 to January 2018.[1]
Biography
A native of Carroll County, Indiana, Rekeweg grew up on her family farm and was a member of Future Farmers of America while growing up. After graduating from Purdue University, Rekeweg taught agriculture to middle and high school students before joining the Indiana Department of Education as the Future Farmers of America executive director in 1998. Rekeweg went on to serve as the director of secondary career and technical education in the department. She also spent time in the private sector as the vice president of deposit operations at Crossroads Bank. Rekeweg was appointed deputy director of agriculture in 2014 by Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann (R) and held that position until being named interim director in 2017.[2]

Indiana Director of Agriculture (2017-2018)
Rekeweg was named interim director of agriculture on October 4, 2017, following the confirmation of Ted McKinney as U.S. under secretary of agriculture for trade and foreign agricultural affairs.[1] She served until the appointment of Bruce Kettler on January 8, 2018.[3]
