She was appointed by Republican Governor Jeb Bush in 2002 and was retained by voters in 2004, 2010, 2016, and 2022.[1][2]
Education
May earned her bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University in 1973 and received her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law in 1981.[1]
Career
May began her legal career in 1981 as a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. She was in private practice from 1982 until her appointment to the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in 1991. She held this position until her appointment to the court of appeal in 2002.[1]
