Melvin H. Fujino was a judge of the Hawai`i Third Circuit Court of Hawaii. He was appointed by Governor David Ige (D) on October 21, 2015, and was sworn in on December 18.[1][2] He retired on June 30, 2020.[3]

Previously, Fujino was a judge of the Hawai`i Third Circuit Family Court of Hawaii. He was appointed by Chief Justice Ronald Moon to fill a newly established judgeship position approved by the legislature. Fujino took office on December 19, 2008. His term expired on December 18, 2014.[4][5][6]

Education

Fujino obtained a B.A from the University of Washington and a J.D. from Gonzaga School of Law.[7]

Career

Fujino began his legal career as a law clerk for Judge Philip T. Chun and Judge Paul M. DeSilva. From 1991 until 2007 he was a deputy prosecuting attorney in the Kona branch of the Hawai`i County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. Prior to his appointment, Fujino was working as a deputy attorney general with the Department of the Attorney General.[7][6]
